Easy Homemade Paleo Tomato Sauce – Canning Recipe # 1

Tomato sauce is quite versatile. It can be used in lasagna, spaghetti, meat sauce, stuffed bell pepper (or other vegetables), pizza, and so much more. Unfortunately a lot of store bought tomato sauce is filled with chemicals and sugar. It is actually quite simple to make your own tomato sauce. It requires a few easy ingredients. Check out this recipe to make your own tomato sauce.

Recipe:

Ingredients:
28oz or 800g canned peeled plum tomato
1/2 yellow onion chopped
2 garlic minced
1 tbsp coconut oil
Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper

Instructions:

1. Turn the stove to medium high heat, add coconut oil and onion/garlic into a saucepan. Cook for 2-3 min or until brown.

2. Add in the tomato, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Stir and bring to a boil. Once it boils, lower the heat and simmer for 35 min to 40 min. Crush the tomatoes in the process with a wooden spoon.

3. Blend the tomato mixture very well and transfer to a mason jar or other container.

    I always enjoy making my own tomato sauce because I never know what to eat tomato with when they start growing out of control in the garden! Hahahah. Always an awesome recipe Mindy!

    This is really handy. Fortunately they do a Dolmio sauce over here which is low fat as well as only natural ingredients so just tomatoes and herbs basically. I use it pretty much daily at the moment.
